Dining at Newlands

Fresh, Home-Style Food

At Newlands, we know that good food is an important part of daily life and something many residents look forward to. Meals are freshly prepared on site by our dedicated catering team, which includes two cooks, two kitchen assistants, and two kitchen porters, all of whom take great pride in the food they serve.

All meals are cooked from scratch using fresh ingredients and are nutritionally balanced. Our menus run on a two-week cycle and are regularly reviewed based on residents’ feedback and preferences. We actively involve residents in menu choices, holding taster sessions and welcoming suggestions to help us find new favourites.

Catering for Individual Needs

We are experienced in catering for a wide range of dietary needs, including coeliac, vegetarian, and vegan diets, as well as other medical or cultural requirements. Some residents require adapted diets or specialist equipment, and these needs are always carefully supported to ensure meals remain enjoyable, safe, and dignified.

Relaxed and Social Mealtimes

Mealtimes at Newlands are designed to feel relaxed and social. Residents can enjoy their meals together in the dining room, where conversation and companionship are encouraged. However, if a resident prefers the privacy of their own room, this choice is always respected.

In addition to main meals, we provide tea and coffee with a selection of biscuits and homemade cake mid-morning and mid-afternoon. Homemade soups, prepared daily, are a firm favourite, and we also enjoy regular themed meals, including a much-loved monthly chippy tea. For those who wish, our occasional “happy hour” offers the chance to enjoy a wee tipple in good company.

Above all, dining at Newlands is about comfort, choice, and enjoyment, good, home-style food served in a familiar, welcoming, and homely way.
